Within South Africa, our employees, customers and suppliers all come from the diverse communities that make up our nation. The hopes and dreams of every community are realised through the children. They are the future and Waco International are committed to helping uplift the disadvantaged children within our communities.

We are privileged to support the South African Smile Foundation (Smile) and the Childhood Cancer Foundation, South Africa (CHOC).

The Smile Foundation are passionately committed to making a difference in the lives of South African children living with treatable facial anomalies such as facial paralysis, cleft lip and cleft palate, craniofacial conditions, as well as ear and nose reconstructions, hand surgery and burn victims.

Smile are a non-profit organisation that brings people together to provide expert surgical intervention and pre and post operative care for the children. Since 2007 Smile have facilitated over 1,500 life changing surgeries. In 2015 Waco helped the funding of surgeries by donating R800,000.

The Childhood Cancer Foundation, South Africa recognise the immense emotional and financial toll that cancer takes on the family of a child with cancer. Their aim is to ease this burden by providing information as well as emotional and practical support.

One of the most critical services CHOC provides is accommodation close to treatment centres, as well as daily transport to the hospitals. At the CHOC houses and lodges the child and family can feel at home, and are provided with food and clothing if necessary. Without this service, it would be impossible for many children to complete the entire treatment cycle, which can take up to three years.

CHOC have 13 accommodation facilities providing over 66 000 bed nights per annum. Waco International assist CHOC in the direct funding of two of these houses, Diepkloof (Soweto)and Saxonwold (Johannesburg).
