Founded in the early 1980s, Sanitech quickly filled a niche in the industry with a valuable service. Establishing itself as the first portable toilet hire company in South Africa to supply sanitation facilities to areas with no sanitation infrastructure, the firm’s list of satisfied customers soon began to grow and include leading companies from a wide range of diverse fields.

However, it wasn’t until 2007, when Sanitech was purchased by Waco International, that the firm really began to shine. Waco International, whose customers are serviced via two lines of business, namely forming, shoring and scaffolding, and re-locatable and modular buildings, is a leading service provider in the mining and resources, infrastructure, industrial maintenance, education, healthcare, entertainment events and construction sectors.

Sanitech and the Soccer City Upgrade project
In preparation for the FIFA world cup, the former FNB soccer stadium is undergoing a massive transformation and Sanitech is assisting with the temporary sanitation requirements for the nearly 3000 workers on site. Sanitech currently provide 50 portable flushable toilets with hand wash basins serviced daily.

Credit must be given to the contractor Grinaker Lta JV for providing better than required toilets and servicing frequency which even includes 2 permanent Janitors on site to ensure that their stringent Health and Safety requirements are adhered to. In total the upgrade is estimated at just under R2 Bil and is expected to be completed by October 2009.
